This article, featured in Law360, examines the 2011 and 2012 PCAOB Inspection Reports. The authors focus on the PCAOB’s allegations of failures among the Big Four firms to obtain sufficient audit evidence to support their opinions on financial statements. Specifically, they provide: (1) an overview of the activities of the PCAOB since May of 2011, (2) an analysis of the PCAOB Inspection Reports issued in calendar years 2011, 2012 and 2013 on eight Annual firms, and (3) trends in Inspection Reports of the “Big Four” firms.
